There is a complex relationship between culture and morality. With this seventh Moral Development pre-conference, we intend to stimulate an open discussion among researchers to reflect upon the role of culture in the formation, content, and practice of moral reasoning, emotions, identity, and behavior.
Keynote speakers will discuss their work on the role of culture, race, and ethnicity in understanding moral development. There will also be breakout sessions focused on key themes, including cultural universality versus relativity of morality and the role of cross-cultural versus within-culture research in understanding cultural elements of moral development. A panel of notable scholars in the field of moral development will help lead discussions.
